acne
jen asked:

please list all the best things you’ve used or things you’ve done to get rid of acne. also say what foods you had to stay away from. please dont list any doctor prescribed medicine because my acne isnt bad, its only a little bit of acne but i want to get rid of it fast. please list the name brands of the items and if you have any household remedies for acne it would be great if you could list those too. OH yeah and i have blackheads too so any tips on how to get rid of those would be helpful. thanks! by the way the reason im listing this in womens health is because, well, this is a problem that all women come across and i guess its kind of a health problem…thankss!
most of the acne is on my forehead by the way and the blackheads are on my nose. its weird though cause the acne is not red or irritated bumps they’re like…regular skin tone color and they’re only noticable if i turn my head a certain way and the light catches them in a certain way. yeah. lol sorry i thought maybe that would be useful info…
sorry about the gramatical error in the title of this topic lol..didnt realize

Proactiv really works! But you really have to keep up with it. I used it myself and I can guarantee that whatever your skin type, it will work. If you are into home remedies, toothpaste on the white heads works pretty good. It dries them out, and decreases the redness. Also, try a good astringent to reduce excess oils. Neutrogena has a good one, or you can simply use witch hazel. Don’t put any harsh scented soaps on your face (i.e. Zest, Irish Spring, Ivory). If you are going to use a main stream soap try Dove. OR, go to your local drug store and pick up a bar of Cetaphil, for dry sensitive skin. For a moisturizer, try Olay Hydrating Beauty Fluid.

I had acne for several years and still have mild acne. I found that the best way to treat and prevent it is to keep the area clean. Not just soap clean but antibacterial soap clean. Find a cleanser that is antibacterial. Much of the redness, inflammation and irritation is from the body reacting to what is blocking your pores, mostly oil and bacteria.

Sorry but Proactive really works. I don’t have bad acne either, but when it does show up I use proactive and it goes away. Also to help with the redness I add a drop of Visine; and sometime a drying solution works–like this one:

pimples/Acne : These are due to scanty, irregular mense and excess of heat in the body. Acupressure treatment should be taken Points Nos. 11 to 15 and treatment for removing excess heat.

    Another natural method :

You should drink at least 12 glasses of water daily to flush out the toxins from your system. Ensure that you don’t suffer from constipation. Keep your skin oil-free at all times. Make a pack using sandalwood and rice powders mixed with rose water and apply it on your face. This will improve your complexion and will take care of the pimples as well.

I have had acne most of my life, and I am 40 now.

I have tried medicine to kill hair follicle mites, to kill fungus….sulfa drugs (topical and pill), antibiotics, creams lotions….everything.

I was given t-sal shampoo by a new dermatologist who believed the acne on my scalp was seborrhea. I used it on my face, and lo and behold….it worked. My skin has been beautiful.

It removes the upper layer of skin, so the contents of your pores don’t get stuck in there. If only I had known how easy it is. You can get t-sal in the pharmacy. It is made by neutrogena…you just put it on your skin (not in your eyes) for a few minutes, then wash it off, and use a mild face lotion afterwards.
